Finding inspiration in nature, Denese Oates creates odes to its intriguing forms. Denese has been exploring nature’s potential, drawing links from biology to botany. Her copper sculptures interpret flora in a variety of guises.
Denese’s practice includes wall sculptures in the form of delicate trees and vines, flattened like pressed flowers, preserved and displayed on a vertical surface.
Denese Oates has been making and exhibiting her art for over 30 years. Her sculptures range from intricate copper creations to robust steel constructions.
She has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows. Her work is represented in collections throughout Australia and has featured in multiple publications.
